Disney's Downfall, Is the Magic Fading?

Disney was the childhood of just about every child that was born between 2000 and 2010. Famous characters ranging from Mickey Mouse, all the way to the Mandalorian kept coming out, and Disney seemed like it wasn't stopping. It owned all of the major media franchises, like Marvel. Star Wars, and even Grey's Anatomy. Other companies like Warner Bros., Discovery, Paramount, and Sony were all covered in the shadow of Disney. Even after all this, Disney lost over 4 billion dollars last year. Its stock was at a low for almost a decade, and its movies got worse and worse. We will uncover how it declined so rapidly.

Even though Disney was making 100% profitability off of all its movies, it still made over 2/3 of its revenue through its theme parks. The movies mostly promoted the theme park, and most of its profits came from the 2 locations in Florida and California that so many families came to for their vacations. It wasn't surprising that Disney's stock was declining, as the theme park brought less and less money each year, which the CEO blamed on Florida's high temperatures and hot weather.

The decline of Marvel Studios was also very noticeable. As a Marvel fan myself, I saw a decrease in the quality of the movies. The prime of Marvel ended in 2022, and they released side characters like She-Hulk and Secret Invasion, which brought less to the box office than any other movie in Marvel history. All the shows and movie characters that millions of Americans love have faded and lost their magic. "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and "Ant-Man and the Quantamania" were both a bust at the box office, but were expected to make a profit.

Even though this is all bad news, it isn't all over for Disney, as its international parks in Shang-Hai and Hong Kong made an increase in money, raking in more and more customers around the world. Disney said that it would push more of its money into the theme park industry, rather than spending it on shows and movies. Disney has lost so much money that they announced that they would lay off over 7,000 employees.

Characters like Mickey Mouse and Iron Man used to be on backpacks that children would take to school, but now the future is uncertain for Disney, as this situation could go both ways for Disney. We can only observe from now on, but it seems like the Magic of Disney is fading.
