The Century Old Rivalry

“El Clásico"—these two words can easily spark interest in a football enthusiast. It typically refers to the football matches between the Spanish clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Both of them are one of the most successful and popular football clubs in the world. The rivalry is intense, with matches often having a significant impact on the La Liga title race but their last fixture on 15th January was the Supercopa de Espana final.

The last El Clásico ended up being Real Madrid winning 4-1 at the Supercopa de Espana, hosted by the Al Awwal Stadium. The match was intensive, as these matches typically are, but Ancelotti’s boys triumphed over the Catalonian giants, though they gave him a hard time.

There was a controversial moment when Vinicius Jr. scored and started celebrating with the iconic "Siuu." His first-half hat trick already secured his team a lead, though Barca scored a goal and made it 3-1 in the first half. A goal from Rodrygo in the 64th minute made Madrid the Supercopa champions.

Robert Lewandowski scored a goal in the 33rd minute, yet his team failed to secure the victory, and a 71st-minute red card to Ronald Araújo made the Catalonian giants lose their faith. Barca's young prodigies, Gavi and Yamal, showed their loyalty and enthusiasm for the club, which earned respect from the fans of both teams.

At the final whistle, Real Madrid became the Supercopa de Espana champions for the 13th time, flexing their 104th victory against Barcelona. Vinicius Jr. was the man of the match and the top scorer of that tournament. Real Madrid and their fans showed their passion for the game.
