This quote is one of MrBeast ’s guiding statements in life and shows his vision for the world. He impacted humanity by giving away millions of dollars to hospitals/homeless shelters, shaping young minds to be socially responsible, and developing online campaigns such as TeamTrees and TeamSeas, which support the Earth and clean up trash in the ocean.
MrBeast's outlandish donations have been nothing short of extraordinary and are far-reaching. One of his most touching charitable donations was, “the donation of 1,000,000 meals to underprivileged communities across America” (Dalgliesh, Celebrity Kind). These meals changed the lives of the people who received the food. They were fed three, hot, healthy meals every day, for a year, while they rebuilt their lives from the mayhem of the pandemic. He gave away millions of dollars to people in need. Homeless shelters, food banks, and children's hospitals are some of the beneficiaries of his donations. MrBeast also organized countless charitable events, like a 24-hour live stream to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts, and a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital that raised more than two million dollars in just one day. Through his generosity and popularity, he has given back to his community and the world, using monetary donations and fundraisers.
MrBeast's online campaigns such as TeamTrees and TeamSeas have had a significant impact on humanity by raising awareness and funds for environmental causes. The support of millions of people worldwide has been gathered because of the campaign, demonstrating the power of coordinated action in addressing global issues. We are able to see this through one of his largest climate-related fundraising activities, TeamTrees. CNN states, “He {Jimmy Donaldson/Mr. Beast} and fellow YouTuber Mark Rober have partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to raise the money and get the trees in the ground,” (Williams, CNN). TeamTrees was launched in 2019, and wanted to plant 20 million trees by the end of the year. The campaign successfully exceeded its goal, with more than 22 million trees planted in different parts of the world, “taking away” the emissions of 6.2 million cars off the road for one year. The trees will also reduce water runoff and filter pollution and microparticles from the atmosphere. They are expected to generate $32.9 billion in environmental benefits. Similarly, TeamSeas, launched in 2021, aims to remove 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean and coastline by the end of the year. The campaign has passed its goal of thirty million dollars, with the support of a variety of entities. By creating these online campaigns, MrBeast has “made” people take action and make a positive impact on the environment, ultimately benefiting humanity as a whole.
MrBeast's influence extends beyond his online campaigns and into shaping the minds of young people. He has become a role model for many young people to become socially responsible and make a positive impact in their communities. Using his videos and social media platforms, MrBeast has been able to spread a message of kindness, generosity, and social accountability to millions of followers worldwide. As the New York Times states, “Mr. Beast inspires all of Gen Z … He’s giving a lot of kids a new path to take, to teach these young kids on how to be active members of their community,” (Lorenz, New York Times). In addition to his philanthropic work, MrBeast also uses his large online platform to highlight important social issues and encourage his followers to take action. He has spoken about topics such as mental health and poverty, bringing important issues that affect society into the spotlight. He has helped raise awareness and inspire a new generation of children who are passionate about creating positive change in the world. MrBeast’s efforts in shaping young minds to be socially responsible will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the world and future generations.
All in all, Jimmy Donaldson made his impact on humanity by giving monetary donations, shaping impressionable, young minds, and working to save the Earth with climate change initiatives. All of these gracious acts from him, show that the impact he has on humanity isn’t motivated by popularity or virality. Instead, it is motivated by his vision for the world to become a place where everyone has the same opportunities and a place where future generations will enjoy the same privileges that we have, like an accessible source of water. I think we can all take after MrBeast when it comes to his ideology. Making an impact on humanity doesn’t require giving away exorbitant sums of money, or developing multi-million dollar fundraisers. As, the anthropologist, Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has,” (Goodreads 1).
