Trans Out of Hand: Identities

During the pandemic, there was a rise in LGBTQ+ members. People started being more comfortable with their identities and showing their desired identities. With that came trans-gender people, but it didn't stop there. There was trans-racial, trans-able, trans-age, and more. Eventually, the trans community started to grow into something bizarre and out of control.

A transgender person is someone whose gender identity is different from their assigned biological sex. To sum it up, it's someone who believes they were not born into the right gender/body. These people can get surgeries and hormonal changes to appear more fit to the gender they wish to identify as. This community has been around since ancient times but only became recognized in the 50s and 60s. Back then, however, they were not accepted by society. Now they have many more rights and recognition, but at what cost?

After trans-genderism became more widely recognized, a new form of trans appeared. This was called trans-racial. Someone who is trans-racial identifies with a race that differs from the one they were assigned at birth. Rachel Dolezal is one of the first trans-racial people and is a huge voice in that community. But unlike trans-gender, more members of society think this is an outright dumb idea.

That brings us to the trans-abled. More of a mental disorder than a community, trans-abled people are individuals who hurt themselves to become disabled. One woman cut her arm off. Another man amputated his leg. Sometimes this is referred to as Apotemnophilia which is the desire for amputation of a healthy limb. The majority of society is outraged by this idea. Many have said that these people belong to mental institutions. It's getting out of control.

Such voices in the community that are against trans people are speaking out. Governments are passing anti-trans laws. For example, in Texas, SB-14 is a law that doesn't allow kids under 18 to get hormones, therapies, and puberty blockers. Other laws have also been put in place.

This isn't even the last of it. There are more features of trans- people like trans-species, pronouns, and non-binary. It's getting out of hand and we as a society shouldn't get carried away.
