A woman by the name of Jill Houchens was found to have numerous animals held in her home that appeared to face neglect with limited access to food and water.

Discovery of Animals

The animals were first found when there was suspected animal abuse behavior occurring by Houchen’s residents. The police obtained a search warrant for the property occupied by her to investigate the claims. When searching the property it was found that Houchen’s owned multiple dogs that were covered in feces and were left with little access to basic life needs such as food and water. While searching the house, the police found five deceased dogs in the freezer and eight injured in need of medical attention. Houchen was arrested at the scene for multiple animal abuse accounts.

More About Houchen

Houchen was previously on the police force of her local county but retired six years earlier. After this, she started an animal rescue which was likely where she collected all the animals found at her home. She also dog-sat for people in her area who needed assistance.

But as of today, Houchen was charged with 27 counts of felony animal neglect as well as 119 misdemeanors.

All animals were transferred to the local humane society to be treated for any injuries they may have endured while under the supervision of Houchen.
